The Israeli Maritime Authority has started a new course- “Advanced Ship Handling in Ports and Confined Waters”, especially designed for Captains and Chief Officers. The first course took place between June 29th and July 2th with the participation of Masters and Chief Officers from “Zim” Shipping Company.
For the first time the Authority is conducting a course adapted for real life conditions- an accurate maneuvering of large ships in challenging areas such as crowded ports and narrow channels, using the Authority’s advanced simulator for the most detailed simulation of the sea.
The course focused on enhancing practical ship-handling skills in confined waters, improving understanding of port operations, and strengthening coordination and decision-making during critical maneuvers using advanced simulation tools and real-world case studies. participants were able to practice complex scenarios in a safe, controlled environment.
We would like to thank Capt. Shlomo Uzan and Tug Master Enosh Aruety, Head of Simulators Center, for their professional support and guidance.
